Grant was hired in March 2008, and has been able to combine his love of wine and technology for the benefit of Ryan’s Wine & Spirits.

Grant previously worked at McDonald’s in Canandaigua, where he learned to multitask in a high paced environment while focusing complete customer satisfaction.  “McDonand’s instilled a sense of urgency when dealing with customers,” he says adding, “I definitely brought this with me to Ryan’s.”  

Grant is generally found manning the register, where he also works on side projects for the store, including the “New at Ryan’s” supplementary newsletter, the Staff Section of the website, and other marketing-related tasks.  In addition to these duties, Grant ably assists customers in product selection, stocks various sections as needed, and acts as primary caretaker of the store’s resident parrots, Dobie and Lolita.  He’s fond of sparkling wine, imported reds (especially from Spain and Portugal), and California blends.   

Grant earned his Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level II certification in 2009.  Additionally, he’s taken a Food and Wine Pairing class at the New York State Wine and Culinary Center, not to mention over half a dozen classes here at Ryan’s.  He’s been to numerous industry tastings in Rochester, and has visited a couple of Finger Lakes wineries throughout the years.
