Shane began working at Ryan’s in November 2010.  He’s a swift learner who has quickly become a wine aficionado, and also has considerable knowledge of spirits.

Shane has worked in many positions over the years, mostly physically demanding jobs including Crossman’s and various landscaping positions.  A natural tinkerer, Shane enjoys working with his hands, and creating working machines from disassembled parts.  Shane’s prior work experiences led him to become our stock room foreman but he’s quickly becoming a wine enthusiast in his own right.  Initially more inclined to drink sweeter style white wines, Shane has learned to appreciate dry red wines.  He is especially fond of New World red blends.

When he’s not bringing order to the stock room, Shane is often found stocking the liquor wall, and other sections as needed.  He’s also adept at running the register, and thrives on helping customers find that perfect bottle.  He’s most knowledgeable with Tequila, Vodka, Bourbon, and New World wines.

Shane is scheduled to attend the Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level II class in early 2012.  He was able to attend the New York State Wines Boot Camp Seminar at the New York State Wine & Culinary Center in 2011.  He has also been to a large number of industry tastings in Rochester and recently one in New York City.  Shane has gone to several spirit classes at Ryan’s, as well as wineries along the Keuka Lake Wine Trail.
